A Custom Kitchen in Blue

Nestled deep in the Kootenay interior is this cottage core kitchen in blue. Our customer wanted the charismatic feel of a blue kitchen while highlighting the local Birch used for this build.

The build started with a cedar countertop, both the cedar and the birch came from within 100km of this build. The countertop is edged with a 14' piece of bent lamination. The knots are filled with EcoPoxy and pigments to match the tile back splash.

The color in the doors comes from the natural iridescent of the wood as well as mineral staining from growing such mineral rich soil. We built on this natural beauty in a 4 step coloring process developed here in the BMWP finishing studio. It was important to our customer to use the original hard wear on the new doors to keep with the original feel of the home and to keep our environmental impact low.
